Funky Feet

Funky Feet is a physical activity programme for early years. It is a fun session that is suitable for children age 2-6 years which develops a child's fundamental movement skills. These skills are the building blocks a child needs to enable them to develop the skills needed for participation in a range of sport and physical activities.

The Funky Feet concept is all about fun. Allowing children to learn, discover and develop in a fun environment. Funky Feet provides preschool, nursery, and reception children the opportunity to be active and interactive, developing their co-ordinations, control, and movement. It is important that children are helped to understand the importance of physical activity within a fun and positive environment.

Fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping are learnt and developed through a variety of different action songs. Songs are either well loved nursery rhymes or catchy songs that are quickly learnt by the children. Each session also incorporates an element of structured play with a different piece of equipment each week for example, bean bags, hoops, racket and ball etc. Balance, co-ordination and agility skills form the basis of this part of the session. We believe play helps young children to learn and develop their physical, social, emotional and intellectual skills through participation and talking.
