Some people require support to help them live independently, to settle into stable accommodation or simply to maintain their current situation in their daily lives after or whilst recovering from substance abuse.

Support can be provided in the client's own home through:
- accessing specialist service including legal advice and health
- resettlement into your home such as moving into the property, connection of utilities and accessing furniture
- neighbourhood disputes and harassment
- participation in the local community
- knowledge of rights and responsibilities as a tenant
- assistance with benefit and grant applications, correspondence and completing forms
- help to liaise with other relevant organisations and local authorities
- advice and practical help to develop independent living skills such as skills training or counselling to increase confidence
- advice on developing skills to obtain work and training opportunities
- improving budgeting skills and assistance with debt problems
- out of hours emergency help
Floating support does not include:
- meal preparation and regular assistance to cook meals
- personal hygiene such as using the toilet, washing, bathing, shaving
- shopping or accompanying on shopping trips on a regular basis
- specialist counselling
- undertaking repairs and home improvement
- accommodation
