Family Links - Nurturing Programme

American child psychologist Dr Stephen J Bavolek developed the Nurturing Programme in the 1970s. Bavolek researched dysfunctional and abusive family interactions; he identified four destructive parental behaviour patterns and developed the Nurturing Programme to counter these.

The Nurturing Programme Four Constructs

As the building blocks of emotional health and relationship skills, the Nurturing Programme uses the Four Constructs:

  • self-awareness
  • appropriate expectations
  • positive discipline
  • empathy

Family Links also provides a large variety of practical tips and ideas for parents, which also includes resources relating to COVID-19.
