Aycliffe School: North East Centre for Autism

We are an independent non-maintained special school for children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and/or disabilities. <SEND>

Address: North East Centre For Autism, Cedar Drive, Aycliffe, Newton Aycliffe, DL56UN
Telephone number: 01325328090

The school strives to provide all pupils with an education that prepares them for a successful transition to a fulfilling and rewarding life as part of their community. The school supports individuals aged 3-19.

All pupils who attend the school have an Individual Support Plan in addition to an Individual Educational Plan. This identifies the additional support need arising from difficulties in learning or barriers to the learning. It offers bespoke and intensive support strategies, both academic and pastoral. The plans are reviewed and monitored regularly to ensure all targets are SMART and all support is accurate. Students attend school Monday to Friday 09:00 - 15:15 during term time.

A referral is required from the Local Authority to start the assessment process.
Costs are based on assessed needs and personalised. A 3 day assessment takes place during which the assessed needs are identified; the local authority will make the final decision to place students in the school.
