The Fund can help with things such as:-


  • Emergency food and toiletries packs
  • Hardship payments for a variety of reasons including when destitute and homeless
  • Medical expenses
  • Maternity wear and baby needs
  • Expenses incurred when meeting solicitors
  • Phone top ups
  • Travel costs to visit detained relatives
  • Help towards college expenses
  • Grants towards school uniforms, travel and other school-related costs
  • Mary Thompson Fund relies on the support of individuals and groups in the area. All the work of the fund is carried out by volunteers.



The Melting Pot, operating from Justice First every other Friday 3.00pm - 4.00pm, has a drop-in for people refused asylum and with no recourse to public funds, providing food and toiletries, and cash payments on behalf of Mary Thompson Fund.
