As a social care provider, Oaklea are registered with CQC to provide personal care as outlined in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010. The definition of Personal Care in this instance includes physical assistance given to a person in connection with everyday activities, such as:

  • Eating or drinking (including the administration of parental nutrition)
  • Toileting (including in relation to menstruation)
  • Washing or bathing
  • Dressing
  • Oral care
  • The care of skin, hair and nails (with the exception of nail care provided by a chiropodist or podiatrist).

Their aim is to enable individuals to be as independent as possible, encouraging customers to carry out activities themselves or with support. Maintaining a customer's personal privacy and dignity is essential.

The costs for this care may be met by funds from a customer's individual budget, by a local authority or from a customer's own personal funds.
