The Centre is situated in Bishopsgarth, Stockton-on-Tees and is within easy reach of local amenities. There are good transport links to Stockton, Billingham and Thornaby Town centres and the local hospital. The Centre is registered with the national Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The care home offers:

Rehabilitation and Assessment
Experience shows most people are assessed in hospital and decisions regarding their future care take place before they are fully recovered. People who are ill in hospital are likely to be at their lowest ebb and can find that they are not coping as well as they might with a little more time and support. Therefore inappropriate decisions regarding long-term care can be made.

A stay in the Rosedale Centre gives you more time to recover; ensuring you are not rushed or pressured to make important decisions. Support Workers with the help of therapists (Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists) will work alongside you to give care and support and will encourage you to be as independent as possible. Their aim is to maximise your level of functioning so you may be given a personalised exercise programme.

You will be supported to think carefully about your future support needs. There are different ways of providing this support at home. Many people return to their own homes to live independently, and the council can offer Information and Advice to assist. Others will need regular assistance, subject to meeting the National Eligibility Criteria threshold, for example from home care services, or support with Telecare. Some people will need longer term residential care provided in a care or nursing home.

Professional help and assistance to make important decisions about your move on from the Centre can be provided by the Council's Social Work team. Families also have a role to play in helping you make important decisions. All the key "next step" decisions will be confirmed at a Review Meeting, and planning will take place to organise either a return home or a move into a Care Home of choice. The Review Meeting is arranged by the Social Worker and will involve any family members whom you wish to be there along with support and therapy team members from the Centre. If you decide to move to a Care Home, you and your family will be given up to two weeks to find a suitable place of your choice.

 

Committed to Quality Care for Individuals
Whilst at the Rosedale Centre you will be supported at all times by an experienced team of Support and Therapy Workers led by the professionally qualified management team. The staff are well trained and dedicated to provide individualised care and support. Their aim is to create a warm, friendly atmosphere that supports dignified care and encourages your independence. The Staff are employed by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council or North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

The Centre is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the national regulator of hospitals, care homes and care services. Their job is to check national standards are being met and they undertake unannounced and announced inspections.

 

Medical and Medication Services
The Community Matron at Rosedale will oversee your medical needs and liaise with your own General Practitioner (GP) if required. It is normal practice for family members to be asked to support you to a hospital or prearranged doctor's appointment. Staff can arrange transport via ambulance or taxi, but the Centre is not responsible for the costs.

If you take prescribed medication independently at home and wish to continue to do so whilst at Rosedale then this can be arranged based on a risk assessment involving you, our Senior Support Workers, Medication Coordinators and your family. All medication is required to be kept safely in the lockable cupboard provided in your room. Otherwise prescribed medication can be dispensed by the staff at appropriate times.

All medication received into the Centre must be in original packaging or in weekly blister packs issued by a pharmacist, along with an up to date list of your current medication. All medication must be handed to the duty manager upon admission.

 

Our Services

 

Catering
Our trained kitchen staff take great pride in creating nutritiously home cooked meals. All meals are freshly prepared on a daily basis, giving you choice based on your tastes and specific dietary requirements. As well as the main meals, light snacks are available at any time.

 

Laundry
A full laundry service is provided free of charge, ensuring freshly laundered bedding and clothing. However this service does not include dry cleaning. If using the laundry service, it is always advisable to ensure that all clothing items are discreetly labelled to avoid loss.

Cleaning and Housekeeping
We have a dedicated Housekeeping Team, to ensure that all areas within the Centre are thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis, including your bedroom. If you want to keep it clean and dusted we can provide cleaning materials.

Chiropodist
A qualified chiropodist attends the Centre on a six weekly basis, for which there is a small fee. The chiropodist will also visit on a private basis if you feel you may miss the prearranged visits.

Religious Services
There are several churches of different denominations in the area. If you wish to visit your local church you are free to do so, providing you have arranged transport.
Ministers also visit at people's request and can hold services within the Centre.

Care Services
Although we provide a free care and support service, there are extra personal services that are not included such as: personal toiletries, dry cleaning, clothing, transport, private health care, private insurance and private celebrations.

Ensuring Security and Safety
Rosedale's main entrance door has a secure entry system. External doors are locked during the evening and night. However, all movement is free within the building at all times.
The Centre has a modern fire alarm system which is tested on a weekly basis. All staff are familiar with the fire evacuation procedures. Notices are displayed on all units stating what to do in the event of a fire. All fire exits are clearly marked. From time to time, active fire drills are carried out.
Rosedale has a "no smoking" policy throughout the building.
To maintain your safety and others at Rosedale we ask you not to allow rubbish to build up in your bedroom.

 

The Accommodation


Bedrooms
All bedrooms in Rosedale are single with height adjustable beds, an over the bed table, wardrobe, drawers and bedside cabinet. Washing facilities comprise of a small hand
basin with inset mirror, overhead light and shaver socket.

Each room has an emergency call system to use when requesting assistance. All bedrooms have their own key and you may choose to have this in your possession whilst staying with us, or ask the staff to look after it.

Lounges
Each of our units has a small lounge and spacious communal dining lounge which provides opportunities to socialise, enjoy each others company or watch television.
The small lounge is available for those who wish to enjoy a moment of peace and relaxation either on their own or with family members when they visit.

A large central courtyard, well equipped with tables, chairs and parasols is ideal for those perfect summer days.

Visitors
Visiting times are 1-3pm and 5-7pm seven days a week with no pre-booking required.

Comments and Complaints

We pride ourselves in the service provided at Rosedale. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire when your stay ends. Please give us feedback on things we do well, or if the service doesn't come up to your standards tell us what we can do to make it better. If you are still unhappy and the matter can't be dealt with informally Stockton Borough Council have an official complaints procedure.
