Witherslack Hall
Witherslack Hall is an independent, specialist residential and day school in rural Cumbria, providing high quality education for boys aged between 8-19. The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with a range of behaviour, emotional and social special needs. The schools 24 hour curriculum develops resilience in young people through teaching the skills of emotional literacy and developing confidence and trust within a carefully structured environment. <SEND>
Our education and care staff work in partnership with parents and other primary carers to give our students access to a broad and balanced curriculum including nationally accredited academic and vocational courses. For post-16 education, we have strong links with local colleges, where many of our pupils undertake external study. Teaching in school takes place in small classes with a maximum of 8 pupils and a high staff:pupil ratio, but personal growth and development is promoted around the clock.
Pupils also have access to Speech & Language therapy, integrated into classroom provision wherever possible, Educational Psychologist and CAMHS support and our Behavioural, Emotional and Social Therapeutic (BEST) curriculum. We promote healthy lifestyles and run an independent life skills programme.
Witherslack Hall offers on-site residential provision for up to 38 weeks of the year. Thanks to our partnerships with several nearby Witherslack Group Children's Homes: Cumbria View, Lakeland House, Orchard House and Woodlands, we are able to increase our existing boarding availability to include 52 week provision, offering excellent levels of staff communication and consistency for all aspects of a child's wellbeing.
