The Hospital of God at Greatham Supported Housing
The Hospital of God at Greatham has provided housing for older people since its foundation in 1273 by Robert de Stichell, Bishop of Durham.
The Hospital of God owns 65 almshouses in Greatham, 14 in Norton and 25 in Stockton for people of pensionable age.
Most of these are modern flats and bungalows offering a variety of sheltered accommodation and have a warden call system installed which can be used to summon assistance in the case of an emergency. A warden is available at Greatham and Stockton to encourage residents to live their lives as independently and fully as possible.
